In January 2023, I had the honour of being included in Bluethumb's list of 10 Artists to Watch in 2023!
I am a visual artist focussing on the environment and how people engage with it. I am concerned about humankindโs devastating impact on planet Earth, our home. Through my art I hope to instigate social change that benefits humanity and the environment. Our planet is in crisis and we all need to do whatever we can to overcome these challenges.
I also paint traditional still life paintings which honour the beauty and importance of nature. I have been inspired by the still life paintings of the old Dutch masters from the 17th century.
Background
I have worked as an art teacher, graphic designer, and now full time artist. I live and work at Bells Beach, Victoria, on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung people. I also spend a lot of time in St Helens, Tasmania, on Kunnarra Kuna country.
I have a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Arts) and I travelled to Florence to study traditional oil painting techniques in 2016.
My work is held in the collections of the Blacktown City Council, Sydney, and the Nillumbik Shire, Melbourne, as well as in private collections in Australia and overseas.
A NOTE ABOUT PACKAGING
Packaging has an enormous environmental cost. To minimise my impact on the environment, especially to save trees, I use recycled boxes. I also use biodegradable packing tape. Your painting will come wrapped in bubblewrap until I find a better environmentally friendly alternative, so I ask that you reuse the bubblewrap or recycle it through the Redcycle program, available through Coles and Woolworths when it is up and running again.
