Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

While travelling through Morocco, I stayed in a small city called Chefchaouen. People who have travelled to Morocco will understand that many cities there are denoted by their colour. For example, Marrakech is the Red City, Fez is the Yellow City, and Tangier the White City.

Chefchaouen is known as the Blue City, And blue it is! The walls are painted blue, doors and even the cobble stone streets are painted blue. As the paint wears off the cobble stones, it provides a wonderful rugged texture.

While painting this artwork, I worked hard mixing the right blue. After many attempts I realised that there is a touch of lavender in the colour. The doorways in Morocco are tantalising as they lead you to wonder what is behind and often it is yet another door. The walls have a magnificent old texture which is often peeling. I have depicted this in the painting with the use of a lot of impasto and gel.

The doors open into the beautiful courtyard of a Riad featuring a gorgeous aqua swimming pool reflecting the arched architecture of the main building.

The painting has been painted with heavy use of impasto and paste to give a very textural feeling that you will just want to touch particularly the pots and cobblestones.

I loved my travel in Morocco - the bright colours of the Medinas, the spices, the snake charmers and sleeping in the desert.

This painting is taken from one of the many photos I took in Chefchaouen and depicts those worn cobblestone streets, the gorgeous blues, Moroccan style tiles and the mystery of that doorway!

This painting would look great in a lounge, dining, bedroom , in a covered patio or balcony or even in the kitchen. It is ready to hang. The edges have also been textured and painted so if you do not wish to frame it, the edges will still be a feaure.

Colours of lavender and bisque provide a background for bright orange and pink flowers. Different patterns and shapes provide a funky feel to the painting. This painting depicts the "chilled" lifestyle of Byron Bay with an abstract man relaxing on a Boucle couch with a Corona Beer. The background is the beautiful ocean surrounding the very iconic Bryon Bay lighthouse. The inside area reflects modern design features including roman plaster walls and ceiling and a very fashionable Boucle couch.Colourful Miami scene with palm trees, ocean, swimming pool in background with very inviting watermelon daiquiris and a pink flamingo pitcher of refill daiquiris in the foreground.Blood moon set in deep blue sky reflecting orange, yellow, ochre and white light over the Glasshouse Mountains and its surrounding countryside and farmland on the Sunshine Coast.
Foreground is highlighted by typical Australian post & rail fence. Fine details of dams and an avocado farm are featured in mid ground.
The painting is very detailed and has many layers and aspects.
