Artwork Description

The Afternoon of a Goblin introduces a quietly mischievous presence into the domestic world of 'The Room Holds' series. Neither threatening nor fully visible, the goblin functions as a metaphor for the unseen forces that inhabit familiar spaces - memory, imagination, anxiety, and play.
Set within an ordinary interior, the work suggests that the home is never entirely fixed or rational, but continually shaped by invisible narratives and shifting states of mind. As with the other works in the series, the painting blurs the boundaries between observation and invention, allowing the everyday to become quietly uncanny.

Artist Bio

I was born in a small mining town in Transylvania, Romania, where the rugged landscapes and rich cultural heritage served as my early inspiration. In 1990, I embarked on a transformative journey, relocating to the vibrant city of Sydney, Australia, which I now proudly call home. Here, I have passionately pursued my artistic calling and honed my skills as a full-time painter.
My commitment to the craft led me to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the prestigious National Art School in Sydney, specializing in painting. This educational journey has allowed me to blend my Romanian roots with the diverse artistic influences of Australia, resulting in a unique and captivating body of work.
I am an associated artist with Traffic Jam Galleries, Neutral Bay NSW, Milk Factory Gallery, Bowral NSW and Red Hill Gallery Brisbane, QLD.
