Artwork Description

Tjunti is a soakage site near Kaḻṯukatjara where the famous gold prospector Harold B. Lasseter took refuge on his fatal search for Lasseter's Reef. The small cave where Lasseter took refuge is Kuḻpi Tjuntinya (now commonly called Lasseter's Cave in English). His camels had deserted him, and he was stranded in the bush without food. While taking shelter in the cave, Lasseter recorded his account of his journey, including the days spent in the cave. He was later found by a local Pitjantjatjara family, who provided him food and water before Lasseter decided to leave the cave and attempt to walk the 140 km to Kata Tjuṯa, passing away on his journey.

This painting needs to be framed. It's also being sent direct from the artist at a remote art centre, Tjarlirli Arts, in the top end. Please note there is only one mail plane a week that takes the artwork to the Alice Springs. The tracking information is then received a week later when the mail plane returns so often the paintings are delivered before we receive the tracking information. Please expect a slightly longer wait for this very special artwork to arrive.
