Artwork Description
Artist Bio
I am a Queensland artist who is currently represented by Aspire Gallery. Through them I have exhibited at both the Sydney and Melbourne Affordable Art Fairs.
I have always loved creating things from when I was young. Originally from WA, I studied art when my children were young and they became my inspiration to paint. I enjoyed painting their portraits and their figure in landscapes and the ocean. We loved going to the beach and learning to surf and this became quality family time together. It was our happy place. Spending many hours and days watching the movement of the ocean while surfing and experiencing how it can affect our moods and mental health has led to my passion of painting water.
My focus is capturing the essence of water and light. Water is so calming and can have a positive effect on our emotions. Light can dramatically change colours and the atmosphere and I strive to capture the light on water in a visually pleasing and realistic way. I want the viewer to feel the energy as though they can touch or immerse themselves into it.
After completing Cert 3 & 4 in Visual art in 2010, I have successfully curated two exhibitions with a small group of artists. I then went into working as an Art Technician in a school and raising a family so art remained a hobby. However during this time I completed many pet portraits commissions and frequently attended workshops, striving to better my skills.
In 2018 we relocated to the Sunny Coast in Queensland and I am now working to take my art practice as far as I can.
You can find more of my work in Aspire Gallery in Paddington Qld.
