Birth, Life, Death.
A continuous flow, layer over layer, each aspect of the cycle intertwining with the other, some instances small, others large. All stages of the experience are inseparable, none able to exist beyond each other. And so they flow, they weave, each one influencing the others, over & over & over.
I had chosen the red, black, white combination for a triptych as the notion had landed in my mind & declined to shift. In this instance, it was a case of having one of those 3 colours central, with the others layered in lines radiating out from the centre, each interspersed also with some silver & silver-grey. The blowing out of the outer colours came first, the central colour then being blown out over the top. Finessing was then done later to create a more consistent central circle within each piece.
Whilst my own mind chose red for birth, white for life & black for death, would those choices hold true for everyone? I find the interplay of the colours interesting to explore: the cells created, the fusion of the colours creating tones of pink, of grey, of burgundy, the eye being led along paths of exploration, the mind conjuring its own stories for what is perceived across each canvas.
MATERIALS
This triptych is an original one-of-a-kind artwork, on a deep edged, back stapled, stretched canvas.
Artist grade acrylics are used, with the painting continuing down the sides of the canvas eliminating the need to frame. The artwork has been finished with 3 layers of professional grade archival gloss varnish for extra protection (including UV protection), colour enhancement and a smooth finish.
The artwork is signed on the back of each canvas & initialled on the side of the canvas at one corner. A certificate of authenticity is provided.
