Although art has been a constant for my whole life since completing O level Art in the seventies, things turned up a notch when I realised at the age of 50 that, yes, I can paint and not just draw. The time was right for me when I completed a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art and Visual Culture) in 2019 at Curtin University in WA. This formal training inspired me to think outside the box, thereby opening doors of creativity I previously never knew existed. I am inspired by the light captured by Edward Hopper alongside the realism and often psychedelic backgrounds of Jonathan Yeo.
My subject matter is broad. I predominantly use acrylic and oil paint to achieve my outcomes which continue to evolve over time. I have dived into realism and am currently focusing on favourite species of birds and animals against a complementary bright background. This creative process leads me into areas I have not visited before and am yet to arrive at. I am excited every day to explore further into my world of art and my hopes for the future are infinite. Where will I start with my next piece, but most of all where will I end up?
