Artwork Description

It’s Complicated explores the intricate, layered nature of life and relationships, capturing the way our experiences interconnect, overlap, and sometimes tangle in unexpected ways. Through bold colour, dynamic movement, and intuitive mark‑making, the artwork builds itself piece by piece, mirroring how complexity often forms gradually, one layer at a time.

The composition feels alive with energy, yet grounded by a strong sense of structure. Each shape and gesture interacts with the next, creating a vibrant visual dialogue that reflects the emotional push and pull of human connection.

While the theme speaks to the challenges of navigating life’s intertwined paths, the artwork radiates optimism. Its bright palette and contemporary aesthetic make it a striking centrepiece, bringing colour, personality, and thoughtful storytelling to any modern interior.

It’s Complicated, invites viewers to pause, reflect, and recognise the beauty within complexity, reminding us that even the most tangled moments can form something unexpectedly harmonious.

Artist Bio

Dianne Alchin is a self‑taught artist based on the Central Coast, NSW, whose vibrant abstract and contemporary works are inspired by the beauty, rhythm, and emotion found in the world around her. She discovered her passion for painting early—selling her first abstract artwork to a school teacher at just sixteen—and has continued to create with the same sense of curiosity and joy ever since.

Drawing from landscapes, seascapes, travel experiences, and the interplay of colour and form, Dianne transforms her impressions into expressive acrylic paintings on canvas. Her work often reflects the shapes, movement, and energy she observes in nature and everyday life, resulting in pieces that feel both dynamic and deeply intuitive.

Guided by the philosophy that “Life is a gift”, Dianne approaches each artwork as an opportunity to celebrate beauty, evoke emotion, and create something meaningful for others to enjoy. Her art has resonated with collectors across Australia, with dozens of original works finding homes through Bluethumb.
