Artwork Description

Strolling through a green space is exercise for the mind. Soothing sounds of birds and insects, smells of plants and flowers, a sense of nothingness and yet something important fills my mind. This is not a time to worry, this is a time to let your mind drift.

Artist Bio

I have taken a hiatus from Bluethumb for the past year as I threw myself in developing my artist voice and spending many hours building up painting mileage. I am back because I have found a happy place with my art as I continue to grow and develop in this journey. My inspiration comes from the natural world and places that have a story to tell. I seek to create art that leaves the viewer in a positive state of mind, finding enough in the world to challenge and unsettle and seeking respite from the troubles of the everyday. Nature is an escape for me, and this is represented by the bush, the mountains, the creeks and man-made landscapes of gardens. I see beauty in many aspects of nature from grand waterfalls to small rocks and my work is a plea to appreciate the natural world while we still can. My paintings give you a place to escape to in your mind, to escape the pressures of living.
I see a home as a sanctuary, to be filled with objects that evoke memories and promote peace and tranquillity. I love colour and strive to capture the extraordinary in the ordinary. The thought of someone choosing my work to keep them company in their space fills me with joy.
My work enhances a home decor by providing a space to sit and ponder. By engaging with the painting, thoughts, feelings, and memories are evoked and take you to a happy place. Aesthetically the painting should enhance your décor through colour and an expression of the character of the people who live there. I create spaces for quiet moments to think and slow down - on a canvas.
