Hello, I'm Dianne Swan, an established Sunshine Coast artist.
My passion for creativity began in my teens and has fuelled my artistic journey.
I began studying art at school and taking TAFE art classes, and I also started making my own clothes at the age of eleven. I worked as a fashion designer with my own label in the 1980s.
In my early 30s, I studied commercial art through Stotts College and watercolour techniques with Lois Bremner, continuing to broaden my skills. This allowed me to work with various mediums, giving me more diversity in my art subjects and style. I have been able to use textile and graphic imagery in my mixed media work from time to time.
Over the past 40 years, I've participated in joint exhibitions in the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Salzburg, showcasing my artwork in ink, oils, acrylics, watercolour, and multimedia.
I have sold commissions that have been sent to America and Hong Kong.
Besides my art, I've had a diverse, people-related career, shaping my perspective on life and art. My works reflect my perceptive instincts and emotional reactions.
I enjoy creating series and sequence-styled collections based on ideas and research.
Recently, I've been fascinated by the connection between human expression and symbolism across generational transitions.
I focused my research on Koi and Carp fish and their relationship to tattoos and mythology, resulting in a thought-provoking body of work.
Living in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, surrounded by the beachside environment, my art reflects the diverse landscapes and humanity I observe.
My artistic journey has continuously explored various mediums and themes, leaving a lasting impact on those who experience my work.
