Creativity was always something Dinah was drawn to, coming from a family of painters and jewellery makers, having particular admiration for her Grandfather's creative skill in sourcing, cutting and polishing Agate stones. She spent countless hours with him as he made jewellery and polished delicate rocks for shows all around the world. She has a particular love of colour and all it's variations and is influenced by nature, gardens and interiors.
Dinah's affinity with travelling the landscape has drawn her to capturing the raw natural beauty she sees in nature, especially the warmth and colour of the light and it's reflections on the native flora and the shapes and form of the land in a contemporary semi-abstract way. She paints mostly in acrylics for their fast drying ability, with some oils and mixed media from her home studio, inspired by her en-plein air recordings of colour and brushmarks.
Dinah finds the process of making art quite therapeutic. Being still in nature brings her peace and going on travel explorations to her local bayside islands and discovering new places brings her joy, of which she has a yearning to recreate with paint to share with her viewers, so they too can enjoy art that brings nature to their space.
