l am an artist living in beautiful Lake Macquarie in NSW.
I love to experiment and try new styles and techniques, and in 2023 I decided to experiment by adding embroidery to my paintings. This led me to an unusual style of art making and expression.
I love to relax with needle and thread so I thought, what could be better than combining two of my pleasures and creating something special. Although it takes many hours to add the embroidered elements I feel that it's worth the time as texture enlivens my senses and being able to add texture to my paintings in this way is exciting. I then explored adding paper weaving to these paintings and this again added another dimension. Growing and building my pool of artistic techniques is motivating and I crave the thrill of learning a new skill.
A significant inspiration in my work is nature. I'm never happier than when I'm interacting with flora and fauna, and they are often the subjects of my paintings. I use flashes of gold, free-form and geometrical embroidery to depict the beauty of nature and the world I see around me.
