Driftward was inspired by numerous snorkelling and diving excursions in southern Tasmania.
Beneath the surface, the body floats weightlessly through the cool water, sounds are subdued, and the landscape contracts. The edge of vision is metres rather than kilometres away. There is anticipation as mysterious shapes and shadows emerge through the diffused underwater light, revealing strange and often brightly coloured marine life.
Immersed in the underwater world, the sights, sounds, sensations and thoughts from the world above are left behind, temporarily forgotten.
