Artwork Description

"Animations in Sugar" is an original watercolor painting of a sugar glider possum, professionally framed and ready to hang.

Sugar gliders are both the most adorable and the most feisty of characters.
They live in big gum trees with hollows and love blossoms or the sap from manna gums - being a sweet tooth is how they got their name.
I have been in love with them since childhood, when my father looked after a pair of orphans as a wildlife carer. They were escape artists and particularly liked jumping onto your head, and then telling you off or biting you when you tried to extract them from your hair.
This painting is a homage to that adorable pair that he fed with a tiny dropper and then later we got to release into the wild.

Artist Bio

Donna's artwork is inspired by a deep, lifelong connection to Australia's wildlife and wilderness. She grew up surrounded by orphaned animals and continues to have an intimate and constant craving for the peace only found by sitting in stillness in the Australian bush.
Like mixing hughes of paint to capture a face or eye, the desire to treasure, to protect, to remember, to fight for nature all mix to form heartfelt inspiration.
