Artwork Description

The paintings presented here on Bluethumb are the original paintings used to create a range of homewares for the iconic Australian brand Maxwell Williams.
I had been painting funky animals for some years and they were my signature works. They came to the attention of Maxwell Williams and I was asked to create paintings that would sit on a range of products.
Yes, my paintings are on mugs, plates, coasters and lots more. They are my paintings created with heart, joy, and imagination.
Maxwell Williams support and patronage have allowed me to have income whilst I pursue my artistic life.
I am proud that over 3 million products featuring my art are in homes in Australia and worldwide. Bringing smiles and happiness to all users.

Artist Bio

'ART WITH SMILE STYLE'
Happiness and love of life is my mantra. This mindset is expressed in my art.
I love that my art brings smiles and joy to those who view and buy it. The most common comment I receive from buyers is that my art has brightened their home and their life.
I have always been drawn to colour. Even as a child I wore different colour shoes, yes, one yellow one red – both at the same time. You should have seen my mother’s face when I dyed my hair red and black checker board while at university.
Colour and love of live fill my soul and this is expressed in my art, it is true to my heart. I just paint the way I see the world. I’m not stuck in just one idiom; my imagination rules my brush and I just go where it takes me.
My creative journey started at Sydney College of the Art in Roselle, Sydney. A degree in fashion design then work in the fashion industry. Three children and teaching degree followed. Then, a turning point in my life.
A move to the rolling hills and huge skies of the Byron Bay hinterland, this area just oozes creativity so I picked up a paint brush.
Here I am now, some fifteen years later living the dream, painting in paradise.
My art hangs in homes worldwide. My images adorn homewares distributed in 26 counties by the iconic Australian company Maxwell Williams.
I love that you can buy my cow mug in Moscow. Park West Gallery in the USA also publish and distribute my work as limited-edition prints.
I hope my art makes you smile and brings joy into your life.
How lucky am I. Love and Smiles, Donna XXX
