Banksia Bitches

This is one of 2 paintings both already framed. Colours in both are the same as they were done at the same time. The paintings were inspired by the beauty of banksia’s and their array of shapes and colours. Just as they colour our landscape I wanted to bring this colour and beauty inside in a more abstract way to bring a pop of colour to any room.

My life has always been creative from drawing to jewellery making or felting. I also am a teacher in the creative sector and have dabbled in a few art classes over the years . I always imagined my retirement would include painting and any other crafty stuff I could indulge in. Along came Covid! When a restless creative is stuck indoors you need something. So this is when I took my chance, why wait! I grabbed my husbands easel and paints, joined many online art classes and off I ran only to be found in my new created arty environment at every opportunity. My whole outlook changed and I envisioned everything I saw in nature on a canvas. This is why I love to paint flowers, Australian native plants or any that are vibrant in colour. I love to experiment with my background layering and incorporating bright old colours.
