Artwork Description

Kapi (water) is essential to helping plants, animals and people thrive here in Kaltukatjara. In this painting a rockholeis at the centre surrounded by tali (sandhills) celebrating the significance of water. The rockhole is a life source for all living things among the tali.

Artist Bio

Doreen Bennett is an artist and arts worker from Kaltukatjara (Docker River). Doreen paints important Tjukurpa (Dreaming) from around the Docker River area, often depicting minyma (women's) knowledge of the land and the bush tucker which it provides. Doreen was accepted into the Curatorial Workshop with Desart in September this year and achieved outstanding outcomes. She particularly enjoys preparing canvases and assisting artists in selecting their materials and colours.
