Honey Gem and Lorikeets

In this painting, using modern materials, I have recreated the diffused texture of rice paper in traditional Chinese painting and the graceful flow of brushstrokes on canvas. The layering of colors adds depth and dimension to the piece. The parrots are rendered entirely in oil painting techniques, meticulously capturing the texture of their feathers, the Honeygem glistering under sunlight, symbolizing the alluring sweetness and preciousness.

Doudou Huang is a Chinese Australian artist with a passion for watercolor, Chinese traditional painting, and acrylic painting. In 1999, Doudou was awarded a Bachelor's degree in Art from Guangxi Art University, followed by a Master's degree from The University of Adelaide in 2006.
