In this watercolour study, two draft horses and their steadfast farmer carve life into the earth beneath the noonday blaze. The pure white of the farmer’s shirt reflects the sun’s intensity, dividing the uncultivated bushland and the rich, sunbaked soil. Through soft washes and thoughtful voids of space, the composition celebrates each bead of sweat and every turn of the plough—an homage to the toil that brings food to our tables. I am grateful for the patient rhythm of labour, the grains of gratitude in every furrow, and the unspoken bond between human, animal, and land.
