In my artwork, I let my subjects speak with their eyes and share some of their
life’s journeys with us. In this way we begin to understand some of the
struggles and joys they have experienced. The painting is complete when the
eyes follow me wherever I go in my studio!
I get a lot of my inspiration from Africa, my place of birth. I feel a deep
emotional and spiritual connection to the people, the raw energy and beat of
the place, and from the incredible wild life of the continent. Every painting is a
journey of discovery for me, and the passion I feel while painting helps me to
dig deep. I now live in Sydney Australia, and derive great inspiration from the
unique and quirky wildlife that is found here. At the same time, I hold grave fears
at how quickly so many species are in danger of becoming extinct.
I'm pretty much a self-taught artist, though I did have 6 meaningful lessons
with Australian Artist Steve Kaldor, many years ago. While I started painting as
a hobby 8 years ago, I only took it up seriously in the past 18 months, when I
left a career in retail spanning over 35 years.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the future unfolds...………..
