Artwork Description

Two artworks for the price of One!

Synthesis is a singular and uniquely transformable painting, created of four separate panels (Quadriptych) and inspired by an Australian landscape. A Rorschach-like pattern emerges, formed by the husks of wetland trees. As the dying tree limbs intertwine there are glimpses of a broader landscape, with low lying hills seen in the apparent reflection of still waters. At the extremities, life begins to evolve and flourish into native vegetation.

The core theme of regeneration can be fully explored by rotating and repositioning the four individual panels (see pictures). Essentially creating a whole new artwork! The second interpretation includes a central, native flora-motif bursting from twisted contours of ancient, long dead, gumtrees. As the leaves and flowers merge life begins to flourish beyond the neutral tones. Revealed is a kaleidoscopic and cyclical analysis of life, death and rebirth via the natural world. And the cycle continues. (Please note the two artwork forms cannot be displayed simultaneously.)

A quadriptych artwork (4 panels each measuring H 60cm x W 80cm), painted with archival acrylic paints and finished with gloss varnish for surface protection. Four individual Canvasses stretched over durable timber, unframed. Polymer sealed with additional two-coat Gloss varnish on front and edges. Each panel is fixed with a wire on back and additional D-ring hooks 10cm down from top for hanging either with a track system or wall hooks. Artwork signed on sides and back. Every effort has been made to colour match the digital files to original, however, please note artwork colours may vary on your device screen. Combined weight of canvasses approximately 9kgs.

Artist Bio

Drew Harrison is an acrylic paint specialist from Adelaide, South Australia and started his career as an illustrator. As a contemporary artist, Drew employs a range of technical and artistic styles to explore an infinite set of ideas. It is a creative amalgamation which adds greater depth to the interpretation of a concept. This mantra encompasses an artistic journey that is neither fully formed or preordained and yet has a clear determination to provide a point of difference. The very nature of Drew’s artwork is set to confront the core ideal of what defines an artist simply by not following a predictable style.

Drew's work is often split into specific series examining connections across the complexities of human existence. Lives that are becoming increasingly characterized by fragmentation, provocation, and isolation. This allows him to indulge in storytelling with the aim of challenging individual viewpoints. An examination of humanity is often represented subliminally via mechanical and inanimate objects. Most interesting in his contemporary work is his use of hidden context, engaging the observer in the interpretive process.

Colour, shape, form and texture are strong hallmarks of his artwork, and the resultant paintings are defined by bold imagery that reflect numerous influences. From realism to expressionist and impressionist paintings, to pop art and beyond.

Drew remains an accomplished fine artist in the field of landscape and aviation/military art and has many prestigious national releases, including for the Royal Australian Air Force Centenary in 2021. He has exhibited in group exhibitions and his paintings are represented in private collections.

Those open to exploration will find artwork that stimulates the mind and engages.
