The Sand Goanna is good bush tucker that Anangu still hunt and eat today.
With the first lightning strikes of summer the lizards come out from their underground hibernation and Anangu come out to track and catch them.
The children are also taken along so they can learn good bush skills from a very young age.
The tasty kuka (meat), as well as the ngampu (eggs), is shared with the families when the hunters return with the setting sun, exhausted, but with lots of good healthy bush foods.
