Rockpool

As with my painting Sentinel Gum, I saw this little rock pool while on a trip to Tasmania's east coast. I was captivated by the deep blue of the pool contrasting with the brilliant blue of the water behind it, and the colour and texture of the rocks and grasses. As with Sentinel Gum, it has a restful tranquility.

Welcome to my Bluethumb page! I live in rural NSW, where I love to paint the beauty of my natural surroundings. I have pursued my love of painting for many years and attended a variety of courses and tutorials, learning a range of painting approaches and techniques, encompassing watercolour, acrylic and oil mediums, though I am drawn most strongly to oil painting. I am a member of the Queanbeyan Art Society and the Artists Society of Canberra and show my work in local and regional art exhibitions.
I am inspired by scenes of colour and beauty that evoke a strong connection to, and awe of, nature. In everyday life I often find myself observing my surroundings, noticing the subtle changes in light, colour, texture and shape - and itching for a paintbrush. I love to paint landscapes, seascapes, birds, flowers and anything else that causes me to pause, admire and reflect.
