Full Bush series: Cascade Trail

The cheeky title aims to broaden the appeal of our natural environment. It’s my attempt at creating a more Australian term for the Japanese concept of “forest bathing”, when being immersed in nature is said to benefit us in a myriad of physical and psychological ways. I think the largely unadulterated wildness and adventurous threat of the Australian bushland, however, deserves a wilder term, so what better than the thought of total submersion? Like leaping into a crashing wave at the beach, you go “full bush” in the Aussie bush.

I have always dabbled in the arts in one way or another;
this latest incarnation being a mental refuge from the turmoils of our times.

My work combines graphic imagery
with the addition of fibre or other embellishments.

I love colour and ornamentation;
aiming to present beauty and inspire optimism for a more positive world;
where man and nature can co-exist in a more mutually beneficial capacity.

My method pays homage to the masterful, yet humble, practical crafts of my family.

I am increasingly drawn to the tangible nature of the handmade,
whilst the world has been fighting an “invisible” enemy,
and the artworld is being drawn towards the virtual.
