Artwork Description

The hero of this artwork is Red-tailed Black Cockatoo – one of the most stunning Australian bird species. It is well-known for its glossy black plumage, erectile helmet looking crest and bright red panels in its tale.
In nature, black colour (as well as white) is often the most sophisticated colour as it reflects and transforms all the other colours in the surroundings turning it into a beautiful and colourful rainbow. The glowing iridescent background is suggesting flowering eucalyptus trees and shimmering light that complement to the colourful appearance of this fabulous and elegant parrot.
This artwork was a finalist of the Holmes Art Prize for realistic Australian Bird Art 2019.
It is professionally framed under non-reflective archival Museum Art glass .
Image size: 52x68, over the frame size: 78x94cm
