Original Artwork by Elfreda Tjiweri
As a member of the Indigenous Art Code Bluethumb is proud to have established direct partnerships with some of Australia's most respected First Nation's artists and art centres.
"Many old ladies digging for rabbits in the green grass." In this painting Elfreda is depicting many old ladies digging for rabbits in the green grass.
Elfreda was born in Alice Springs and grew up in Kaltukatjara. She has painted for Maruku Arts as well as Kaltukatjara Art. She is also a weaver of tjanpi (native grasses). She enjoys painting the Kungkarangkalpa (Sevens Sisters) and Minyma (women's business) stories, and her canvases often convey the abundance of the apparently harsh and inhospitable desert lands.
