Artwork Description

This ORIGINAL INK ARTWORK is a rather dramatic departure from the expected maximalist impasto oil paintings in my usual practice. I was doing a sculpture class and unfortunately the repetition strain injured my hands. Eventually I was able to pick up ink, sable brush and ‘the good paper’ and make some artwork. It was very gentle on my hands. These works are all done completely freehand, ink straight onto paper. No drawing underneath. This means I have chosen only the works I was absolutely happy with after making many. The works are very direct and honest portraits of Australian gum from this artist’s perspective. I am now back into oil painting but I am making ink drawings as well, as I love making them. So out of pain comes something new. While the medium, surface and brush are different for me, the subject matter of my original ink artworks are consistent, and I believe they are recognisable as my work.

“Hakea Flowers” is an original artwork hand drawn in Golden carbon black high flow ink featuring a bouquet of Australian hakea flowers and leaves. The drawing made on A2 sized professional artist 400 GSM cold pressed paper. The artwork is signed by the artist on the face of the work. The work is ready to hang professionally framed with a 5cm bordering matte under high quality acrylic with the appearance of glass (while it really looks like glass, it is not glass). The work is adhered to a foam board to keep it flat and prevent buckling during shipping.
