Artwork Description

The magnificent blooms of the red flowering gum, corymbia ficifolia painted alla prima, onto linen. It comes in many colours, 3 of which are represented in this impasto floral painting. The artist adores this type of gum blossom, applying thick oil paint with a hog hair paint brush. These type of brushes hold a lot of paint and allow the texture of the brush to be shown in each brushstroke. The Beswick vase used in this painting is a quite a traditional vessel, but carry a modern arrangement of unique australian flora beautifully.
