Artwork Description

The composition evokes a chorus of trees standing witness on the Northwest Slopes and Plains of NSW.
The chosen limited palette of colours capture the Australian heat and harsh dry winds. Almost spartan in design, surrounding the simple centre of field, the tree shapes seem hastily drawn dabbed scribbled and stretched with knife and brush marks to give the work a modern feel.
These limited coloured base notes are then punctuated with dabs of sunlight and bolder streaks of shadow.

Artist Bio

I am an oil painter in love with Australian light and landscapes. Living on Awabakal land, I respect and acknowledge the Traditional Owners of this land. I exhibit in Newcastle, Sydney and regional NSW. The work is gestural and executed with a range of mark making tools to create impasto techniques of the shapes, tones and colours unique to Australia. Often sought for their rich texture and patterned surfaces, many of the works present a rich, varied and bold colour scheme that punch well above their weight.
