Oil, Canvas, Framed by Artist
64cm (W) x 64cm (H) x 5cm (D)
The resilience of life close to the edge is the inspiration for this work. There is an almost sacred space between the wild winds and water and the still stoic land where vegetative life survives. This canvas as part of a lake series is full of rich textural marks and pigment where the artist has almost sculptured the final work. Bright Australian light plays across the surface - displaying a world of detailed patterns.
I am an oil painter in love with Australian light and landscapes. Living on Awabakal land, I respect and acknowledge the Traditional Owners of this land. I exhibit in Newcastle, Sydney and regional NSW. The work is gestural and executed with a range of mark making tools to create impasto techniques of the shapes, tones and colours unique to Australia. Often sought for their rich texture and patterned surfaces, many of the works present a rich, varied and bold colour scheme that punch well above their weight.
