Ideas of abstraction and figuration inform my practice, it is an exploration of the physicality of paint and the act of ‘doing’. The process embraces accident and ambiguity. I want my paintings to describe a feeling, evoke a response or excite the viewer’s imagination. This painting reflects my ongoing interest in abstract and its formal properties such as colour, texture, shape, and contrast…These elements shared with my intuitive approach are applied in layers, scratched back and reworked to create the impression of remembered moments. The surface of the paintings is a kind of ongoing visual record of dealing with the intricacy of things experienced.
