Artwork Description

This is a personal favourite of mine. For this special piece I drew inspiration from the idyllic landscapes of a small, but spirited, coastal town named Knysna in South Africa. The painting features a loose and abstract interpretation of the Knysna Heads- a pair of dramatic cliffs that separate the lagoon from the rest of the Indian Ocean. Knysna is a safe haven, a place I visit to breath and be, and reconnect with myself and family. Having spent a childhood worth of holidays in this little town, Knysna is very much a second home to me. So this is an ode to Knysna, my happy place.

I hope this painting of my paradise brings you the same peace and joy it has gifted me for so many years.

The original painting was acrylic on canvas 100x100cm. Other sizes/mediums available on request (prices vary).

Artist Bio

Hello! You found me!

I'm Ella. A colour enthusiast and fierce advocate for uninhibited creativity. I live in an artistic world of complete freedom where there are no rules; just a celebration of lines that dance, wonky and wonderful shapes that nestle together and acrylic paint that looks deliciously thick and textured. My creative process is driven by intuition and spontaneity. I embrace the unexpected and let my instincts guide me as I layer, blend, and manipulate acrylics on canvas. And I welcome all mistakes, especially happy ones! Painting spontaneously and with a playfulness allows me to truly tap into my creativity and challenge myself to produce something that certainly did not exist in the world prior. This ensures that each and every piece is completely unique and one of a kind. I paint with a kaleidoscope of colour, oodles of joy and endless amounts of imagination. I love dreaming up abstract landscapes of wonder and whimsy, yet grounding them in reality with recognisable figures and symbols. My hope will always be to ignite a playful, childlike sense of happiness in the viewer and celebrate wild and free creativity. Thank you for joining me on this artistic adventure. I hope my artworks bring you as much joy and inspiration as they bring me in creating them.
