My name is Elle Campbell, I am a Meintangk, Bunganditj and Tanganekald woman from the South East, South Australia.
My painting journey started back in 2018 after a dream I had that I was sitting down with my late Nan, Noeline Casey and we were painting a picture of a Gecko together.
I woke up the next morning, went to the shops and came home with what I could afford at the time of paint supplies and put my dream onto paper.
Not long after starting this journey, I was asked to have my own exhibition set up for Flinders Medical Centre’s annual Reconciliation Week art exhibition.
This is where I first had my ‘Kangaroo’s on the Coast’ artwork on display which was then selected to be used for the AFL’s 2021 Sir Doug Nicholls Round guernseys for the Port Adelaide Football Club.
This was a huge accomplishment for myself as a big AFL fan to be invited to present the match ball before the game at Adelaide Oval, being able to watch the game up in the corporate suite with my mother and father with me and then to see my design everywhere while watching a game we love.
Since then I have continued to create my artwork as a hobby side business, with the occasional commission here and there from footy boots to ukelele’s and held my first market stall in Kingston, S.E over Easter 2023.
I lost my beautiful mother in August 2023 hich has been the most challenging time having to navigate life without her physical presence. I still feel her with me everyday and I now create my artwork in honour of her and the rest of my ancestors who are looking over from the skies to help to keep my spirit strong and my connection to them everlasting.
