Artwork Description

Watercolour on paper

Signed on the front.

This delightful sulphur crested cockatoo seemed to be serveying the landscape as he perched in a treetop in my local botanical gardens, you could almost see the joy in his eyes as he spotted a patch of sunflowers in full bllom!I couldn't help noticing how well his lovely yellow crest blended in with the bright yellow petals of the sunflowers and there was an instant desire to create a painting! I have chosen watercolour on watercolour paper on illustration board to paint this picture.

A Rainbow Lorikeet has landed in an apple tree and has struck the jackpot! The tree is laden with fruit just ripe and ready for harvest. Sharing similar colours to the green leaves and red and green apples this happy bird blends in so well as he settles himself in amongst the leaves and apples. There is part of an old gray and brown wooden fence visible in the foreground so immediately it becomes evident that the bird is in someone's backyard! If it weren't for his striking bright blue head you might not even notice him hiding in the tree.A fallen pine tree provides the backdrop for this detailed artwork, featuring a roaming Echidna searching for his lunch of ants, amongst a carpet of branches, leaves and grasses. The picture is highly detailed in black and white. The Echidna is in the very forefront of the picture as he clambers across the ground in his search. There are hanging branches and pine needles still clinging to the branches.A yellow tailed Black Cockatoo is the centerpiece of this painting. He has stark black feathers edged in yellow, with a yellow feathered cheek. He is surrounded by yellow wattle blossoms and is munching on a banksia cone. There are some green wattle leaves weaving in and out through the wattle blossoms.A family of three Kookaburras' feature in this painting. They are nestled in amongst the golden blossoms of the Cootamundra wattle tree. There is an old shed in the background and some old broken down fences and an old gate, reflecting an era that has long past. It has been raining and there are puddles on the ground, some reflecting the trees and shrubs that surround them.
