Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
Kookaburra's have always been one of my favourite birds. There were many in the trees around my home when I lived on a rural property here in central Victoria. One year we were excited to see a male and female Kookaburra raise a family in our nesting box by the creek! It was a joy to see one of the babies fly under our verandah one day, he was unable to find his way out so we caught him and released him to the delight of his parents who were perched nearby calling to him. I wanted to set them in the beautiful Cootamundra wattle that is so prolific around central Victoria. I have chosen watercolour on a background of watercolour paper mounted on cresent board. As you look into this painting you will see lots of small detail even in the distance. Weeks of work has gone into this painting and it would be a "stand out" in any space, bringing nature in all it's glory into the indoors!
