Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
Red Waratah flowers have always been one of my favourites, although I don't have them growing in my garden, I do have the beautiful Grevillea. I thought they made the perfect pairing, the vinbrant colours of the Waratah and the striking variations of colour in the Grevillea work so well together. While they share common elements such as spikey leaves, they are different in other ways. i.e. the petals of the Waratah are soft and the centre of the flowers is rounded and smoothe, while the flowers of the Grevillea are snail like in shape but with fine soft haisr on the flowers and stems.
I have used watercolour on a background of watercolour paper on illustration board to complete this painting. It would make a statement in any space and the size of the painting would make it fit well into any space.
