"This square of river water and bedrock could be anywhere. The location? Three words: flute.siding.branched. Umm... what? What3words is an address locator whereby the entire world is assigned a 3-metre square grid, of which each square has a unique 3-word address. How is this better than your street address? Sometimes a formal address doesn’t exist… what if you want to find your friends’ remote camping spot to join them, or if you’re lost in the bush and need someone to find you, or you’re sending an aid package to someone living in an informal settlement with a non-existent address? Well, a simple three words can certainly help. It doesn’t replace a GPS coordinate, but it’s a lot easy to remember and communicate three words than the 16 digits of a lat-long reference point." The painting was part of the artist's solo debut exhibition at the Moores Contemporary Art Gallery (Fremantle) in August 2020, and this is the description of the painting from the exhibition.
