Artwork Description

This work belongs to the series “The Reds Found New Life in the Midst of the Sea”. In this piece, geometric shapes and bright tones of red, pink and blue come together in a dream like coastal landscape. The umbrella becomes a symbol of shelter, memory and calm inside a world of movement and colour.

The red forms carry the same themes of passion, courage and new beginnings found throughout the series. Layers of blue and green waves reflect the ocean a place of distance, migration and emotional transition. The painting blends abstraction with a hint of figurative elements, creating a playful but powerful visual journey.

Artist Bio

Elmira Hooshangi is a multi-medium contemporary artist working with acrylic, oil painting, , oil pastel, soft pastel, colored pencils, watercolor, sculpture, and installation. Her practice explores the interplay of color, form, and texture, emphasizing the translation of emotion, memory, and societal observations into visual language. Elmira’s work is deeply rooted in expressionism and abstraction, reflecting both her inner experiences and the dynamics of the world around her.

Through painting, drawing, and installation, she investigates the energy of color and the expressive potential of oil painting, the rhythm of shapes, and the tactile qualities of materials, allowing viewers to connect with the emotions and narratives embedded in her work. She often draws inspiration from personal reflection, social events, and the subtle nuances of daily life, transforming them into compositions that are simultaneously expressive and contemplative.

Elmira believes that color and art are essential to human experience, and that without creative expression, the world would be silent. Constantly experimenting with materials, techniques, and spatial arrangements, she seeks to push the boundaries of her practice and engage audiences in an immersive dialogue between form, feeling, and perception.
