A self taught artist who canโt help but create. As a young girl she would study the paintings on the walls of her family home, imagining herself in the places that she would see in the paintings, wondering where the paths would lead around โthatโ corner.
Most of her life her creations have been music. Whilst working at the age of 29 she enrolled at uni and completed her Bachelor of Applied Music in Composition further fuelling her love of film scoring. Always wishing that she could โdrawโ she started doing graphite sketches in a sketchbook at work. Fortunately 12 hour shifts both days and nights allows for some down time to fill. For the past 18 years she has worked as a 000 Emergency Operator and this obviously takes its toll mentally and physically. To stay awake on shifts itโs not unusual to find her head down sketching at 3am or transcribing whatever music is in her head onto some manuscript paper.
Emariโs busyness of mind has lead her to seek stillness be it through art and music or amongst nature hiking or kayaking. With instrumental music and paint she has now found a peace where her mind can relax. Painting allows her to let go of all the rules, all her expectations and the canvas becomes her manuscript. The paintbrush her pencil. The music and paint now the baton conducting her imagination.
When not in her studio she can often be found squeezing every minute possible out of a day with her 12yo son. They hike in the mountains, cameras in hand, both unable to stay away from nature for too long. Emari always attempting to capture her obsession with the colour green. Gathering her inspiration from the surrounding valleys and mountains of where she has always called home, these influences can be seen in her art. Emariโs life is one of constant change and evolution which reflects in her art with experimentation of different styles and mediums, purposely not restricting herself and her imagination.
She has learnt too well that the one thing you can count on is change and believes that growth of oneself is a constant thing and so too her art should grow. Emari welcomes each person who visits her profile and hopes that maybe they too will look at her paintings and wonder where the path leads around โthatโ corner.
