This painting is part of a series of three I created to present the colours of ochre. I wanted them to portray the harsh beauty of the dry Australian landscape. For this, I minimised the use of acrylic paint, only using light blue for the sky and burnt umber for shadows, allowing the focus to be on the yellow, orange, and red tones of ochre. I intended for my triptych to imitate the desolate, and isolated atmosphere that can be experienced in Australiaโs outback. This work takes inspiration from Fred Williams, Hans Heysen and Russel Drysdale.
