Canberra based artist and mum of two, I explore my emotional state, memory, and the world around me in (mostly) acrylics. I have painted since my early teens and found my groove in abstract styles as an adult after picking up the paintbrush again to distract myself from serious illness in my family.
I grew up between Canberra and the South Coast of NSW, and each home had fabulous, mish-mash gardens made up of natives, roses, fruit trees, jasmine, azaleas, and anything that would grown from a cutting! I adore painting the female form, abstract florals, doodling, and have a a deep interest in female stories, iconography and representation (and lack thereof) of the divine feminine in art, religion and life.
I bring my pieces together in layers, building complexity and pouring thought and love into each piece.
I bloody love art, I love creating and bringing pieces to life from inside my brain. The joy I feel when one of my paintings or prints finds a new happy home on a wall somewhere out there is huge!
Thanks for getting to know me a bit better. Em
