The work and colour palette of Pierre Bonnard and his 2023 exhibition at the NGV in Melbourne inspired me to work outside my comfort zone with this painting! Coral red roses are not something I usually capture in my paintings but the rich, warm reds were something that I wanted to really focus on. Loose acrylic underpainting and thick oil brush strokes over the top create a duality of textures that I have recently been exploring. It was painted alongside my other listing 'CORAL ROSES 1'.
