Artwork Description

This linocut print is about the unknown and unseen. There have been times where I’ve felt other forces are at work, a sixth sense, our human brains are imaginative and we can’t know everything, our curiosity sparks our imagination. After spending many years in Papua New Guinea where spirits are a part of their culture it heightens my awareness of this. Who and what is among us and if at all.
The style of this print was inspired by early British relief printmaking from the mid - fifties, Picasso’s linocut prints and tribal art. Playing with abstraction made this a fun printmaking process.
PS: This is original artwork and therefore there may be some very slight differences in print colour and application, I have selected 3 of the very best prints from a a print run of 6.
This print is made with water based printmaking inks on very fine Japanese mulberry paper.
Image size is 21 x 21 cm, borders are 1 inch wide.

Artist Bio

I’m an artist from Townsville, North Queensland, Australia. I love various forms of art making and find it hard to stick to one, there is so much to be inspired by and as long as I’m being creative that’s what makes me happy. Having said that watercolour painting has been my main art practice, I love the watery flowing nature of the medium and the incredible intense hues to very soft transparent washes. Printmaking, drawing, oil painting and ceramics are also mediums I love to use.
My subject interests are varied but I prefer earthy elements, I tend to go with the flow and let my mood drive the inspiration.
You will find a broad variety of artworks and subject matter on my page, thanks so much for stopping by. 😊
