Artwork Description

Djiti Djiti is the noongar word for the djert known in English as the Willie Wagtail, because of its trademark chattering sound. The Noongar are the Aboriginal Australian peoples who live in the south western corner of Western Australia. They tell a story of how in the Dreaming the Djiti djiti was a great hunter who was one day robbed of his catch by Wardong the crow and Dwerda the dingo. They say that wagtail never forgot this crime, which is why he still angrily attacks crows and dogs much bigger than itself.

Artist Bio

I am a self taught artist living in beautiful north eastern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia.
Art has always been a passion of mine and creating art work brings me peace. I work in wildlife education and training and find inspiration in the unique flora and fauna we are fortunate enough to have here in Australia.
All in all I believe that art sparks passion, appreciation and joy, and this is something that I endeavor to spread through my work.
