Artwork Description

Native pink Bottlebrush flowers collected on a neighbourhood walk to the 'hill park'. This little painting was inspired by the vibrant pink of the flowers set against the vivid blue of an afternoon Spring sky; how nature serves up the perfect contrasting colour combinations! How could I not paint them?
A pair of juicy figs balance out the composition and add another pop of that glorious, vibrant pink of the Bottlebrush flowers. I love how the figs' exterior also balances the orange-brown of the amber glass vase and its reflections.
This little beauty, full of joy and colour, will brighten up any room.

Artist Bio

I am an artist living on Boon Wurrung country in the bayside suburb of Williamstown, Victoria. My art practice keeps me grounded and offers stillness and quiet in a fast-paced, noisy world.
I am inspired by the simple beauty of nature and everyday sentimental objects. I am particularly attracted to the austere charm of Australian native flowers, and the ephemera of ordinary life for the way it can spark meaningful memories or mark a moment in time. This sense of nostalgia drives me to preserve delicate moments that celebrate the natural world and life’s simple pleasures.
I aim to create art that brightens spaces and connects with viewers in a way that conjures a sense of comfort, nostalgia and delight.
I work primarily in acrylics on sustainably sourced cotton or linen canvas.
