Artwork Description

‘Crustacean’ was inspired by the artist’s love of fishing on the beach at K’gari (Fraser Island). The mixed media work shows the intricate details on a crab that usually is overlooked. The artist was drawn to this curled up composition as the crab looks regal and protective over itself.

Artist Bio

Hello! My name is Emma and I’m a 26 year old Brisbane/Meanjin based artist.

Art has been my passion since I was a young child and I have been making art my whole life. After finishing high school, I studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts specialising in Visual Art from QUT and furthered my studies with a Masters of Secondary Teaching.

My art practice is focused around fine and intricate line work on different types of paper. I enjoy creating artworks of nature or still life that have captured my interest. The fine lines allow me to make detailed artworks that emphasise that complement the base watercolour tones underneath. Thus, my artworks’ showcase a sense of depth which aims to intrigue a viewers eye.
