Artwork Description

After a summer of feeding on krill in Antarctic waters, Humpback Whales migrate north to sub-tropical waters where they mate and give birth. This painting captures a serene underwater scene of a majestic mother and calf swimming by a coral reef full of tropical fishes and table corals, highlighted by sunlight rays breaking the surface of the cobalt blue waters.
Inspired by the breeding migration of Humpback whales off the coast of Western Australia and conservation efforts to protect them from deep sea mining. I wanted to create an ethereal underwater scene in appreciation of these magical mammals, to capture a tranquil moment in time on our blue planet.
- Varnished (Satin Gamvar by Gamblin)
- Painted sides, Unframed (No framing necessary)
- Ready to hang (Screw eyes and hanging cord)

As an artist, I am drawn to the bond we share with nature, a source of inspiration and comfort wired in our very being. Embracing a neurodiverse and culturally diverse viewpoint, I celebrate the distinct ways in which we perceive, think, and engage with our surroundings. Inspired by colour, light, and movement, my aim is to convey a sense of calm amid the chaos, much like the essence of Van Gogh's art.
As the descendant of a family of seafarers, I channel my oceanic affinity through my artwork, blending greens and blues onto canvas and in ornamental pieces. Through a combination of realistic portrayals, as well as experimenting freely with diverse mediums, I create instinctively and fluidly, with each layer serving a meaningful purpose and connecting me with my Celtic and Viking roots.
Through my artwork, I aim to capture this spiritual connection to nature using paints and mixed media by emphasizing the interplay of colour, light, and movement on canvas and glass. These elements are my key tools for expressing the peace and beauty present in nature, even amidst life's inherent disorder.
Each brushstroke, colour choice, and composition reflect my individual journey and viewpoint, demonstrating the richness of thought and vision present in all of us. My aim is to create pieces that evoke peace and introspection, prompting viewers to pause and reestablish a link with both the natural world and their inner selves.
My art acts as a bridge, uniting not only our intrinsic tie to nature but to foster a deeper appreciation for the varied perspectives that enrich our shared human experience. Through this lens, I hope to inspire others to find joy and meaning in their unique ways of perceiving the world.

As a Neurodivergent Artist, Emma discovered her passion for art at a young age, finding solace and self-expression in the vibrant world of colours and shapes. Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD in her adult life, Emma embraced art to communicate and navigate the complexities of human emotions and life that often-eluded verbal expression. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of nature, as well as the cultural and spiritual beliefs of her Celtic and Viking ancestors, Emma embarks on a journey of artistic discovery that transcends boundaries and defies conventional modes of communication. Through her art, Emma has found a voice—a voice that speaks volumes in strokes of a brush, hues of a palette, and the raw authenticity of artistic interpretation.
