Artwork Description

After the bushfires in 2020 I was interested in how the bushland in my area was regenerating. This piece is a series of studies I did after encountering a gully with astonishingly loud cicadas. The cicadas were so wonderfully in sync with their waves of sound that I felt I had to somehow capture the energy of the scene.

I love how watercolour is a never ending exploration in texture. There is always an element of surprise. This painting is a culmination of my exploration of colour and textures of the trees that are a home to the invisible creatures singing the joy of regeneration.

Artist Bio

I am an artist who lives on the beautiful Central Coast NSW. I paint contemporary landscapes in acrylics and watercolours. I love to explore our beautiful native flora and fauna. I grew up in gorgeous Port Stephens, and have been lucky to have lived both in the country (Scone NSW) and the coast.
