Artist Bio

Artist | Designer | Photographer | Creative Director

Emma Sheldrake is an Australian multidisciplinary artist renowned for her bold, seductive, and spontaneous works that seamlessly blend figurative art with the mischievousness of Pop Art and subtle eroticism. Her creations are distinguished by daring brush strokes, irreverent drips, and captivating eyes, inviting viewers into a world where beauty and character intertwine.

Born into a family of artists, Emma's creative journey was almost predestined. After graduating from the Queensland College of Art in 1995, she amassed over a decade of experience in design, advertising, and fashion industries, working as an art director, graphic designer, and stylist across Brisbane, Sydney, and the USA.

Emma's artistic expression is deeply influenced by her fashion industry background, offering commentary on media's portrayal of beauty and its obscured depths. Her subjects, often reminiscent of flawless figures from fashion magazines, are rendered with rich personality and evocative imperfections.

Since launching her fine art career, Emma has exhibited in over fifty exhibitions both in Australia and internationally, including notable showcases at Art Shanghai and Art Sydney.

Beyond painting, Emma is the Creative Director of Sheldrake Creative, where she leverages over 25 years of experience in graphic design, styling, photography & video.

Her artistic endeavors have been recognized with awards in design, digital imaging, branding, packaging, and photography. Notably, she has been nominated twice for the Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award.

Emma's work is represented in Australia and continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Her commitment to exploring the interplay between beauty, media, and individuality ensures her art remains both contemporary and deeply resonant.
