Artwork Description

When creating this piece, I wanted people to feel as if they could dive into this painting. Though I know there’s a shark, black tip reef sharks are generally safe when not threatened. When I see white sand and clear water I feel a sense of calm and urge to be emerged within it, to feel that silky water on my skin, like a welcoming home hug from the ocean. The yellow fish enhance the clarity of the water through their clear details and contrasting colours.

I drew inspiration from my previous visits to the Great Barrier Reef, one of which I saw a black tip reef shark gliding through the ocean. There were contrasting reef fish all around, and the water was as clear as glass.

Artist Bio

Emma’s expressive use of colours are parallel to her views and perceptions of nature, in particular fauna. Though Emma uses a variety of styles and mediums to portray various scenes, her heart never strays too far from using the ocean as inspiration.
Whether she uses a graffiti, abstract, realist, surreal, messy, anthropomorphic, or contemporary style, Emma stays true to bright and bold.
